    James J. Ferguson, 74, Fairhope RD 1, died Sept. 5, 1988, at home.  
  Born March 21, 1914, in Black Township, son of the late Duncan and 
  Margaret (Rubright) Ferguson.  Survived by wife, the former Kathleen
  Holler.  
  His death ends a marriage union of 49 years.  Also survived by these 
  sons: James W., married to the former Jean Leydig, Berlin RD 4; and Merle 
  D., married to the former Barbara Lafferty, Princess Anne, Md.; four 
  grandchildren and one great-grandson.  Half-brother of Peter D. Shultz, 
  Meyersdale.  Former coal miner and construction worker.  Family will 
  receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, BERLIN, 
  where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Sam 
  Coughenour.  Interment, Dry Ridge Cemetery.
