Preceded in death by parents, two sisters and grandson, Randy Porter. Survived by widow, former Agnes (Labuda) Umberger and these children: Grace, widow of Robert Porter, Lorraine, Ohio; Charles Fern, married to former Shelby Brudette, LaGrange, Ohio; James Fern, married to former Barbara Brada, Elyria, Ohio; Barbara, wife of the Rev. Milton Benny, Gaithersburg, Md.; Gloria, wife of Daniel Powell, Elyria, Ohio; Bernadine, wife of Edward Elersic, Central City; Henry Umberger, Somerset; Pat, wife of Glenn Gerney, North Huntingdon; John Umberger, Stoystown; and Sandy, wife of Franklin Reed, Friedens; also, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Robert, McAllen, Texas; Credwyn Anderson, Melvindale, Mich.; and Maria Piazza, Lorraine, Ohio. Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell, and U.S.W. of A. Retired employee of Freight Car Division, Johnstown Works, Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where Wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
