Ferrara, 80, of Somerset, passed on May 22, 2003 at Somerset Hospital. Born May 11, 1923 in Newark, N.J. He is the son of the late Cecil and Josephine (Volpe) Ferrara. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Alice Phillips and brothers; Joseph, Caesar and Anthony Ferrara and Tom Delmonica. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Blanche E. (Kimmel) Ferrara; son, Anthony married to Loretta Ferrara of Lehigh Acre, Fla.; great-grandchildren: Michael, Kaitlin, Lloyd, Hunter, Ashley and Anthony IV and devoted cousin Virginia Brewer of Somerset. He is the brother of Rose Szilagyi of Belleville, N.J. and Barbara Maisto of Colonial, N.J. and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a retired employee of Crucible Steel in Harrison, N.J. with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II who was awarded two Bronze Stars among many decorations for his action in Europe. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Church in Somerset, Rev. Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli Celebrant. There will be a Vigil for the deceased at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A committal service prior to interment will be held at 12 p.m. at the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel in Shanksville with Rev. Alphonse Mascherino officiating. Interment at Mizpah Cemetery.
