Fierst, 81, of Bakersville, passed on Dec. 9, 2003, at home. Born Nov. 9, 1922, in Pittsburgh, he is the son of the late Henry and Josephine (Goldball) Fierst. He is also preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2000 and brother Henry. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Burns of Gurnee, Ill., niece Cynthia Burns of Kittery, Maine, nephew David Burns of Gurnee, good friends Sonny Breeger of Chalfont Borough and Tina Ulmer and family of Bakersville, special friend Dorris Costantino of Somerset, and godchildren Charlene Shawley and Bob Kramer. He was a retired employee of Nabisco Co. in East Liberty and was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. He was proud to have served on the USS Cogswell DD-651 which participated in every major sea battle in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset where a wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Thursday. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Church in Somerset, Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli celebrant. interment at Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park in N. Versailles.
