He joined the Church of God at Sand Spring in early childhood and remained a member of that church his entire life. His funeral was held at the Sand Spring church in charge of mortician W. W. Savage. Showing the esteem in which he was held, a large number of friends followed the remains to its last resting place in the Sand Spring Cemetery. The church was filled and a score or more could not gain admittance. Rev. Jeffries of Somerfield delivered the funeral oration. Pallbearers were John Frazee, R. W. Faucett, Harry Grove, Dorsey Guard, Ernest Selby and John Riley. Flower girls were Lucille and Lillian Fike and Ruth Frazee. He joined the American Legion at Frostburg, Md., and was a member up to the time of his death. He was in over-sea service in the World War and was gassed during the battle of the Argonne, the effects of which he carried through life. He was a prosperous farmer and contractor and was contracting for the Ernest Selby Lumber Company when he was taken with his last illness. He was a kind husband and father and leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Iva Featherman Fike; daughters, Gladys, Bernice and Ruth; his aged father, William Fike, and two brothers, Wesley and Hosea.
