Fike, aged 54, died at his home, Meyersdale R. D. 3, this (Thursday) morning at 11:35. His death was due to a heart ailment of several years duration. Mr. Fike was the husband of Mrs. Olive (Poorbaugh) Fike and the father of one son, Paul W., who is serving in the Army in the Pacific, and one daughter, Mrs. John J. Butler, at home, whose husband is also in the service. He was born in Meyersdale, April 3, 1891, a son of William and Clara (Saylor) Fike. He is survived by seven brothers: Irvin, Dennis, Mahlon, Peter, Elias, Bruce and William, all of Meyersdale, and by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Courtney, Johnstown, and Mrs. John Hoye, Detroit, Michigan. He was a motorman in a coal mine, by trade. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, July 23, at 3:30, in the Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member, by Rev. DeWitt L. Miller. Interment will be held in Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son. Meyersdale Republican, July 19, 1945
