Fike, well known citizen of Summit Township, and life-long resident of the village of Vim, died at his home, at 11:30 a.m., June 3, after a lingering illness. He was the son of Samuel R. and Ann (Peck) Fike. He was aged 68 years, 5 months, 21 days, having been born Dec. 14, 1874, in the same house in which he died and lived his entire life. Mr. Fike was a sterling and industrious citizen, being employed around the neighboring mines and in various other kinds of work until his health failed. He was a faithful member of the Church of the Brethren and regular in attendance while his health permitted. He is survived by his wife, Emma (Vought) Fike, and four daughters, Helen (Mrs. Ellis Boose) and Miss Margaret, Somerset; Grace, at home, and Mrs. Fred Bloom, Cumberland, Md. One daughter, Mrs. John D. Peck is deceased, as is also a brother, Fremont Fike, and sister, Ellen Fike, children of Samuel R. Fike by a former marriage. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock, Sunday afternoon in the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, Rev. A. J. Replogle, of Salisbury, officiating in the absence of the deceased's pastor, Rev. DeWitt Miller. Interment in Union Cemetery in charge of W. C. Price & Son. Meyersdale Republican, June 10, 1943
