Fike, 75, of LaVale, Md., was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital on Friday, Nov. 17, 1989, after suffering a heart attack while working at the home of his daughter, Janet E. Wellings, Cresaptown, Md. Born April 14, 1914, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late Hurley W. and Della (Clapper) Fike. He was the founder, owner and operator of the Fike Vault and Burial Service, the original concrete vault business in the Cumberland area. He was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Cumberland Optimist Club. Surviving in addition to his daughter are his widow, Martha (Baer) Fike; a daughter, Verna Jean Rodevick, Arnold, Md.; and three brothers, Galen A. Fike, Melbourne, Fla.; and Emmert C.
