She was born in Meyersdale, March 26, 1894, the daughter of the late Milton E. and Sarah Ellen Meyers. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Filby in 1945, sisters Mary Hendershot, Ada Watson, Emma Combs and a brother, Milton Meyers Jr. Three of these sisters: Ada, Emma and now Besse died within a period of two months. She is survived by these daughters: Mrs. A. W. (Ethel) Jarvice, Toronto, Ohio; Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Grimm, Everett, Wash.; Mrs. Chris (Edith) Christianson, Albany, Ore.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by these sisters: Mrs. Jacob (Edith) Meyer, Pittsburgh; Mrs. John (Lulu) Hickenbottom, Meyersdale; and Mrs. Curtis (Iona) Stull, Shanksville. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Meyersdale until she married and moved to Youngstown. She was very active in the Lutheran Church in Albany, Ore., until the time of her death.
