Finch, 58, Mecca Market cashier FARMDALE- Mrs. Alice Ruth Finch, 58, 9895 Dennison-Ashtabula Road, Greene Township, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, after several months of illness. She was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Somerset, Pa., the daughter of James and Almeda Walker Opel. A resident here 31 years, coming from Mecca. Mrs. Finch was employed as head cashier at Mecca Market where she was employed for 15 years. She was a member of East Mecca Community Church and Greene VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Oakley F. Finch, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947; five sons, James of Mecca, Floyd "Tim" of Charleston, S.C., Mark of West Mecca, Shane and William of Greene; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Anne) Schmidt of Downey, Calif., Mrs. Charles (Eloise) Shafer of Mecca; and seven grandchildren. A son, John, died in 1979. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shafer-Winans Funeral Home, Cortland. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Greene Community Church or Greene Church of the Nazarene.
