Firestone, 69, of Melcroft, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 1983, at his home. Born May 20, 1914, in Normalville, son of the late Jerry and Sarah (Murray) Firestone. Resident of the Indian Creek Valley all of his life, and was a retired coal miner and also worked Marsolino Construction Co. Member of the U.M.W.A., veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and a member of Donegal American Legion. Survived by his wife, Verda (Snyder) Firestone, with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22; three daughters, Mrs. Abraham (Jenny) Davison of Friedens RD 1; Mrs. William (Patricia) Wilders, of Melcroft; and Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Keyser of Somerset RD 6; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, John and Russell Firestone, both of Normalville; Marshall of Houston, Texas; and Homer of Findley, Ohio; three sisters; Edith Pritts and Mrs. John (Kathryn) Henry, both of Normalville; and Mrs. Jay (Elsie) Firestone of Connellsville. Preceded in death by brother, Charles D. Firestone. Friends will be received at the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Rt. 711 at Melcroft from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, where funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. James Vandervort and Rev. Robert McNeel officiating. Interment will follow at the Normalville Cemetery. Daily American, November 4, 1983 [F0311]
