Born Aug. 20, 1911, in Somerset County, son of the late Ross and Emma (Nedrow) Firestone. Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and two half-brothers. Survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Evelyn Lape; three children: Robert, Scottsdale; Mrs. James (Joyce) Mills, Kittanning; and James, Venice, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of: Mrs. Emmert (Gertrude) Bittner, Berlin; Mrs. William (Gala) Bowley, and Mrs. Kenneth (Mayme) Walthouer, both of Greensburg; and Leo, Youngwood. Retired farmer, member of Hillcrest Grange, and the Beachdale Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday, and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jay Christner officiating. Interment Beachdale Cemetery. Daily American, June 20, 1988 [F0315]
