All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ ISAAC FIRESTONE Isaac Firestone, aged 86 years, was found dead in his bed at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Koontz, at Ursina, on Saturday morning, February 27th. Mr. Firestone had been in poor health and confined to his bed for the last eight months, but his death was sudden and came as a distinct shock to the community. Isaac Firestone was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, on February 14, 1846, and was aged 86 years and 13 days at the time of his death. He spent practically all his life at farming in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, near Kingwood. His wife preceded him to the grave 23 years ago. They had twelve children. Three sons and one daughter preceded him to the grave; five daughters and three sons survive. The surviving children are Mrs. Marcellus Tressler, living near Kingwood; Curtis Firestone, Upper Turkeyfoot Township; Daniel Tressler, near Confluence; Mrs. Samuel King, Kingwood; Mrs. John Younkin, near Confluence; Mrs. Charles Lanning, Indian Head; Mrs. Samuel Koontz, Ursina, and Stanton Firestone, Connellsville. Surviving also are 54 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Mr. Firestone, after leaving his farm in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, spent several years with his son, Daniel Firestone, near Confluence, going to Ursina about a year ago to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Koontz, and had remained there since. Funeral services were held at the Old Bethel Church of God near Kingwood on Monday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Tampinger of the Kingwood Church of God officiating; interment in Old Bethel cemetery.
