Firestone, 90, of Confluence, formerly of Markleysburg, passed away Jan. 31, 1997 in the Uniontown Hospital. She was born April 11, 1906, in Reston County, W.Va., daughter of the late Benjamin and Lulu Jane Trowebridge Stewart. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William C. Firestone; two brothers, Donald and Fred Stewart; and one sister, Vera Foreman. Surviving are one son, Clifford Firestone and wife, Rose Ann of Painsville, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. William (Lulu Mae "Lue") Nicholson of Markleysburg; a brother, Harry Stewart of Star City, W.Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a dear friend Pamela Reckart Custer of Markleysburg and the following foster children: Frank Custer and wife Nancy and Jim Funk and wife, Lori, both of Markleysburg; Rose Funk Rectanus and husband Shawn of Farmington; Mark Funk and wife of Korea, Wanda Kerr Morrison and husband Jim of Ohiopyle; Betty Holland Wallace and husband Jerry, Bob Piper and Roy Piper, Shirley Early Fazenbaker and husband Edward all of Uniontown; Richard Kerr and wife Diane and Mary Custer both of Connellsville; Roy Custer of West Virginia; Mary Ann Newton of Markleysburg; Joyce Early Landman and husband Paul of Amhurst, Ohio; Violet Ashton of Haydentown; Charlie Fowler of Masontown and several foster grandchildren. She was a member of the Markleysburg Union church and was involved with the Fayette County Children and Youth Services for many years. Friends will be received in the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Markleysburg, from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the Union Church, the hour of service. Rev. Thomas Crogan will officiate.
