Her father had burned brush earlier in the day and presumed the embers had all burned out. It is not known just how the child's clothing caught fire, but her parents think she was playing near the embers and perhaps a spark ignited her clothing. The mother heard her child's screams from the kitchen where she was working and running to her found her clothing in flames. She beat out the flames and the child who had been playing alone was rushed to the Hazel McGilvery Hospital in Meyersdale where she died at 7 o'clock Sunday morning after a night of suffering. Ruth Elizabeth Flamm was born in Brothersvalley Township May 4, 1939. She is survived by her parents and two brothers, Carl H. and James W., both at home. Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Monday at 3:30 p.m., with Rev. Herman C. Snyder officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Berlin.
