A native of Salisbury, he was the son of the late William and Martha (Green) fletcher. He was a retired, self-employed coal mine operator and a member of the United Mine Workers Local 1742 of Jennerstown, PA. Surviving are his widow, Nannie (Athey) Fletcher; two daughters, Mrs. Alpharetta Smith, Frostburg, and Mrs. Orvella Blubaugh, Potomac Park, Md.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Gannon, Barton.
