FLETCHER Dr. Curtis L. Fletcher of Wheeling, W.Va., died January 27, in the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, following a major operation. His wife accompanied him to Philadelphia and was with him at the time of his death. Dr. Fletcher was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., in 1891, son of Samual and Margaret Fletcher. He was graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1915, and soon thereafter was united in marriage with Ruth DeVore Hay, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin T. Hay of Salisbury. He was a prominent dentist in Wheeling for 30 years, and was a member of the Maryland Dental Society. He was a member of Nelson Lodge No. 30 of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, the Western Consistory, the Osiris Temple of the Shrine, and of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Dr. Fletcher had a reputation as a kind and generous man, and was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife and three children - Mrs. Richard R. King, Barberton, O.; Mrs. (Aileen) Duane Flagg, a member of the Wheeling High School faculty, and Curtis Lee Fletcher, all of Wheeling; by his father, Samuel Fletcher of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Gail E. Fletcher, and a grandchild, Donna Lee, both of Wheeling. He was preceded in death by one son who died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, with interment in the Oak Park Cemetery, Wheeling. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. May, Mrs. V. H. Sutherland and Martha Harding attended the funeral services, and were accompanied home to Salisbury by Mrs. William E. Harding, who had been at the Fletcher home for two weeks. Mrs. May, Mrs. Sutherland and Mrs. Harding are sisters of the bereaved wife. Meyersdale Republican, February 12, 1948
