Born March 28, 1914, in Brothersvalley Township, the son of Obediah Presley and Erla Maude (Engleka) Flickinger. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Mary Louise Slickerman, who died May 12, 2001; infant sister, Erma Flickinger; brothers, Curtis and Arthur Flickinger; sister, Ruth Flickinger; and a nephew, James P. Flickinger. Survived by stepdaughter, Mrs. Elmer (Shirley) Zimmerman, Wayne, Mich.; step grandsons, Mark Zimmerman and wife, Teresa, Belleville, Mich.; Michael Zimmerman and wife Melissa, Charlotte, N.C.; step-great-grandsons , Anthony, Chad and Mark Zimmerman; nieces and nephews, Edward Flickinger, Victoria, Texas; William Flickinger, East Berlin; Mrs. Dean (Sally) Walker, Friedens; Mrs. Clarence (Connie) Saylor, Rockwood; and an aunt, Mrs. Faye Thompson, Davidsville. U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1946. Attended St. Paul's Ridge Church, and had worked until his retirement as a greens keeper for Oakbrook Golf Course. Also a member of Lodge 358 F&AM. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Warren Sterner officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N. Center Ave., Somerset, PA 15501. A Masonic service was held 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
