All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ EDITH SHIPLEY FLOTO Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Shipley Floto who died Friday, Feb. 27, 1942, in the Connellsville State Hospital, were held Monday afternoon at the late residence in that city conducted by the Rev. Dr. W. H. Hetric, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a member. A daughter of the late John T. and Emily Duley Shipley, she married Eugene R. Floto September 15, 1893, at Meyersdale. After residing here until 1906, they moved to Connellsville. For 35 years Mrs. Floto was teacher of the Ladies Bible Class of Trinity Lutheran Church, Connellsville. She was also a life member of the Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the church, and at the time of her death held the office of vice president. She was also a past president of the Woman's Culture Club. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 10 children. They are Carl T. Floto, at home; Max C. Floto, Blairsville; Mrs. George Connor, Harrisburg; Norman S. Floto, Bay City, Mich.; Mrs. Wayne Shontz, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Alex H. Hood, Edith V., and Eugene R. Floto, Jr., all at home; Catherine R. Floto, Washington, Pa., and Mrs. George P. Donehoo, Connellsville. There are also 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren surviving. Two grandsons are in the armed service of the United States. Other survivors are her sister, Mrs. Emily Tilp, Pittsburgh, and these half sisters and brothers: Miss Belle Shipley and Fulton N. Shipley, Meyersdale; Barron E. Shipley, Youngstown, Ohio; and Mrs. Wooton T. Mercier, Providence, R.I. Meyersdale Republican, March 5, 1942
