Floto, a former resident of this place and a member of the Legislature in 1910 and 1911, died at his home in Akron, Ohio, at six p. m. on July 28, lacking one day of being 56 years and 5 months old. Four weeks ago, Mr. Floto became ill with pleurisy which later developed into neuritis, and subsequently into spinal meningitis. Mr. Floto was born in Johnstown and following attendance at school he learn the cigar business with his father and later, the family came to Meyersdale in 1899, a partnership being then formed known as Floto Bros. In 1900 Mr. Floto moved to Ohio and went into business for himself but continued there for but two years when he returned to Meyersdale and bought out his brother, Eugene's interest. He continued with his brother D. A., until 1913 when he went to Akron, Ohio, and entered the employment of the Goodyear Rubber Company, remaining there until his death. There survives, him besides his wife, one son Eugene C. and two daughters Misses Florence and Catherine, all at home. Brothers and sisters surviving are Rev. C. F. Floto, a Lutheran Clergyman, of Biglersville, E. R. Floto of Connellsville; D. A. Floto, of Meyersdale, Mrs. H. W. Ferner and Mrs. J. W. Baker, both of Hyndman. The aged mother of the deceased is living in Connellsville but aged 83 years was too feeble to attend the funeral. The remains arrived here on the No. 6 11:29 Sunday afternoon and were conveyed to Riverview for interment, with Masonic rites, he having been a member of the Meyersdale Lodge. Mr. Floto was a member of the Lutheran Church and Rev. D. W. Michael also took part in the services. Mr. Floto was an affable and pleasing man and was much respected by all who knew him.
