Born Oct. 1, 1889, in Hawk Run, Clearfield County, son of Patrick and Minnie McDowell Flynn. Preceded in death by wife, the former Kathleen Moss, Feb. 4, 1968; daughter, Dolores, wife of Vinton J. Griffith, May 2, 1972; two sisters, a brother and a half-brother. Survived by son-in=law, Vinton J. Griffith, with whom he resided; grandson, John Griffith, of Vandergrift; great-grandson, Sean, and great-granddaughter Heather; half-sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth New, South Fork, and Mrs. Thomas Hunley, Lewistown, and half-brother, George Mills, Jenners. Was a retired superintendent of former Pittsburgh Consolidation Coal Co., Jenners. Was a member and former council member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Boswell. Member, secretary and past noble grand of the former Boswell Lodge 1172, IOOF, now a member of Somerset Lodge 438. Past president of Jenner Water Co. Member of Jenner Rod & Gun Club, FOE Aerie 1585, South Fork, Somerset County Old-Timers Baseball Association, Home Aid of the Somerset American Legion and Retired Persons' Association, Somerset. Friends were received from 7-9 p.m. Monday and will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. George A. Clark officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
