Fochtman, 84, Johnstown, formerly of New Baltimore, died Dec. 22, 1997, at Arbutus Park Manor in Johnstown. Born Oct. 30, 1913, in New Baltimore. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Grace (Lehman) Fochtman, and wife, Margaret V. (Will) Fochtman, who died Oct. 8, 1993. Also preceded in death by daughter, Judith Ann, in 1968; 2 brothers, Edmund and Clarence; 2 sisters, Irene Hankinson and Kathleen Marshall. Survived by sisters: Marguerite Burkett, Cresaptown, Md.; Gertrude Diehl, New Baltimore, and Sylvia Mowry, Johnstown. Also nieces and nephews. Retired after 25 years as tire builder at Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. in Cumberland, Md. U.S. Army veteran of World War II; served with the 5th infantry, 71st Division, in Central Europe and the Rhineland. Awarded two Bronze Stars. Member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Church, Rev. Mark Begly, celebrant. Interment, St. John's Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Roads Unit, c/o Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
