He was born September 8, 1918 to John and Emma (Meyers) Fogle at Garrett. John was eleven years old when the depression hit his coal mining hometown of Garrett. He completed a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy during World War II and for a time raised three children by himself. Working hard and saving money was his highest priority. John was a disenfranchised Republican who spoke against our rising national debt and raiding of social security. John's generation did not talk about feelings or what ifs, they worked and saved for themselves and their families. Everyone who came in contact with John rapidly came to understand his values and interests. As a person who valued his privacy, he was always a gentleman and enjoyed a good one on one conversation. John grew to love the outdoors from fishing with his dad and later in life hiking and worked on the trails around Denver, Colorado. He loved the snowcapped Rockies. As the years progressed and health issues became a focal point, John was able to concentrate on his financial investing hobby as an all-consuming passion. He will be missed by all those he touched. Goodbye John. During his life he earned a B.S. in geology, worked as a hotel credit manager for the Hilton hotels and was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Survivors include his daughter, Emilie Fogle Overmiller and her husband, Don of East Wenatchee; two sons: David J. Fogle and his wife, Susan of North Barrington, Ill.; Jamie R. Fogle and his wife, Faye of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Isaac P. and Carter J. Overmiller and Sara and Emily Fogle. Funeral services will be held at a later time in Meyersdale. Arrangements were by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
