Mrs. Folk had suffered a stroke of paralysis and her condition had been critical for several weeks. She was 71 years, 6 months and 15 days of age. She was born on the farm where she has since made her home, July 18, 1868, a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Annie Bender Otto. Practically all of her life has been spent in this community, where she was well known and made many friends. On December 13, 1892, she married William Wilson Folk. Five children were born to them, one of whom was drowned July 29, 1900, when only about two years old. The others, with their bereaved father, survive. They are Mrs. Milton B. Miller, Bruce and Daniel Folk, all of Grantsville, and Mrs. Paul Haning, Springs, Pa. She also leaves one brother, Jacob J. Otto, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Gelnett, Mrs. Gideon D. Miller, all of Springs, and Mrs. Wilson Livengood, Grantsville, and fifteen grandchildren. In her early girlhood she united with the Casselman Mennonite Church and was always a faithful and devoted member. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, February 6, by Rev. Roy L. Kinsinger, Grantsville, and Rev. Chester Helmich, Pinto. Interment was in the family plot on the home place. Six nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers. Meyersdale Republican, February 8, 1940
