Born March 28, 1923, in Shipley, son of John Harold and Hattie Elizabeth (Steinley) Folk. Preceded in death by parents, sisters: Mary Potts and Lucille Berkley, and brothers: Robert, John, Blair, and Morris Dale Folk. Survived by his wife of 61 years the former Eva Olsen, a daughter Brenda, married to Thomas Shaffer, Stoystown; grandsons, Michael A. Shaffer, married to the former Shari Anderson; and Chris J. Shaffer, married to the former Tmara Walker, and great-grandchildren: Alexis, Eric, and Tylan Shaffer. Brother of Maxine Corbett, Carol "Suze" Campbell, Ella Catherine Stutzman, George, Paul, and Harold Folk. World War II Navy Veteran. Retired supervisor of buildings and grounds for Shade-Central City High School, and formerly employed by Shade-Central City Joint Authority. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Wilbur. Former member of Shade-Central City School Board. Lifetime member of Stoystown American Legion. Member of Hooversville VFW, DAV and Pa. Association of School Retirees. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, 976 Barn St., Hooversville, where Legion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Viewing from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Friday at Otterbein U.M. Church. The Rev. Thomas Chacko and the Rev. Sam Weible officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
