Harry E. Forney Popular Berlin Lady Killed in Car Crash in New Jersey BERLIN, July 17 - Mrs. Myrtle Forney, 51, one of the most popular residents of Berlin was fatally injured about 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, while enroute from Trenton, N.J., to keep a dinner appointment with her husband, Lieut. While awaiting the arrival of his wife to join him at dinner, the officer received notice of the accident which proved fatal to his wife and resulted in the serious injury of Corporal Wendell H. Emery, of Fort Dix, the driver of the automobile in which she was traveling. The wreck occurred at the intersection of the Trenton - Ft. Dix Rd. and Monmouth Rd., just three miles from Ft. Dix. Died of Skull Fracture Mrs. Forney died as the result of a fracture of her skull and neck, sustained when a truck driven by Harold Worrell of Mt. At the time of his son's death, Lt. Col. Forney was enroute overseas and did not hear about the sad fate of his son until six weeks afterward. Following the end of the war Col. Forney returned to the States and was assigned to the important post he now holds at Fort Dix, less than eight months ago.
