Born Dec. 3, 1921, in Meyersdale. Son of the late Mose and Sarah Ellen (Albright) Forrest. Also preceded in death by brother Paul and sister Mrs. Helen Imler, Sept. 25, 1993. Survived by his wife, the former Verna B. Murray, with whom he celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22, 1993. Also survived by two children, Mrs. Fred E. (Beverly) Thompson, Somerset, and Paul L. Forrest, North Potomac, Md. He was beloved "Pappy" of three grandchildren, Jill, Michael and Kelly Thompson. Brother of Mrs. George H. (Hazel) Rhoten, Meyersdale RD 4. Member of Somerset Church of the Brethren and American Legion Post 181 of Somerset. Was a 1941 graduate of Meyersdale High School. U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served in the Philippines and New Guinea as a motor sergeant from 1942 to 1946. Retired in 1986 as president of Bender Shoe Co. of Somerset and vice president of B.B. Walker Shoe Co., of Asheboro, N.C. with 38 years of service. Also served four years as a consultant. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27. The Rev. Roger L. Forry officiating.
