Born July 3, 1936, in Shanksville. Son of John M. Sr. and Mary B. (Glessner) Fox. Preceded in death by parents, brother William and sister July Kountz. Survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Jean L. Gibson, and these children: David, married to the former Sharon Spangler Veres, Stoystown; Daniel, married to the former Donna Coughenour, Berlin RD 1; Donald, married to the former Elizabeth Diana, Ligonier RD 2; Susan, married to Dennis Brant, Stoystown RD 3; and James, married to the former Carol Woolcock, Greensburg. Grandchildren: Elwood and Emily Brant, and Rachel, Jeffrey, Samuel C., Sarah and Jacob Fox; step-grandchildren: Douglas Jr. and Justin Veres. Brother of Caroline, married to Ernest Stull; Sarah Jane, married to Bruce Addleman; and John M. Jr., married to the former Linda Walker, all of Shanksville. Also sister-in-law, Helen Fox of Somerset, and mother-in-law, Mrs. Harry (Evelyn) Gibson, Stoystown RD 3. 1954 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School. Retired from U.S. Steel, Johnstown. Former owner of Fox Grocery, Stoystown. Member and elder of Unity UCC. Member and eight-year 100 percent secretary of Stoystown Lions Club, where he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where Lions Memorial Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Viewing from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Unity UCC, Berlin RD 1, the Rev. Jay E. Shaffer officiating. Interment, Walker Cemetery, Shanksville.
