  John M. Fox, Sr., 83, of Shanksville, died Feb. 17, 1983, at Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born Aug. 24, 1899, in Shanksville, son of Samuel and
  Bessie (Baltzer) Fox.  Preceded in death by parents; son, William; and
  sister, Kathryn Platt.  Survived by his widow, the former Mary Glessner,
  whom he married May 27, 1925; and the following children:  Mrs. Ernest
  (Caroline) Stull,  Mrs. M. Bruce (Janie) Addleman, John M. Jr., married to
  Linda Walker, Mrs. Walter (Judy) Kountz, all of Shanksville; and J. Samuel,
  married to Jean Gibson of Stoystown RD 3;  20 grandchildren; and eight
  great-grandchildren.  A retired postmaster at Shanksville, and PennDOT
  employee.  Member of Unity United Church of Christ, secretary of Walker
  Cemetery Association for 25 years.  Family received friends Thursday
  evening, and will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the
  Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
  Saturday, the Rev. Marlin A. Miller.  Interment, Walker Cemetery,
  Shanksville.
