Fox, a life-long resident of Shanksville, died suddenly at his home in that borough Friday evening, Jan. 30. He had been ill for three months. He was born January 18, 1868, in Somerset Township, a son of William and Caroline (Miller) Fox. During 22 years of his life, he taught school. He was in the hotel business 30 years and he also worked at the carpenter trade. After the Johnstown flood of 1889, he helped build the first house completed in Ferndale. He was a school director for 12 years, serving at the time the consolidated school building was erected at Shanksville. He was a life long member of the United Brethren Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie (Baltzer) Fox and two children, Kathryn, wife of Charles E. Platt, and John M. Fox, both of Shanksville, and seven grandchildren.
