He was born Jan. 25, 1905, in Shanksville, the son of the late William H. and Edith Ross Foy. On Aug. 17, 1928, he married the former Alice Spangler. Besides his widow, he is survived by five children: Thomas of Lock Haven; Benjamin of Everett; Robert Jr. of Bedford; Alice Carol, wife of the Rev. Ralph Volpe of Huston; and Rev. William Foy of Saxton RD who is on furlough from missionary duty in East Africa; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was the brother of Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) Friedline of Shanksville. A brother preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Somerset High School; an elementary school teacher for two years at Reels Corner, the first radio salesman in the Shanksville area; a life-insurance salesman for Metropolitan for several years; and a salesman for Specht Ford Motor Sales. He established the Bedford Motor Sales in 1934 from which he retired in 1956. From 1960-68, he served two terms as Bedford County commissioner. From 1966-1970, he traveled through 17 countries. He was a life-long member of the Reformed Church, Shanksville. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Roland S. Keller Funeral Home, Bedford, where funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ralph Volpe assisted by the Rev. James Swank and the Rev. William Foy.
