FREDERICK Veteran Musician Died Suddenly Founder of Frederick Piano Co. - Directed Band Here Some Years Ago W. F. Frederick, well known piano dealer in this section of the country for many years, died very suddenly Sunday, Jan. 31, in the Uniontown Hospital after a day's illness. He was the president and founder of the Frederick Piano Company, and had been in business since 1881, and until a few years ago when he retired, had operated 50 music stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia. He was a trustee of Bethany College, a member of the Central Church of Uniontown, and a member of various Masonic lodges. W. F. Frederick was well known in Meyersdale for many years back, having come here as a young man to teach music and direct a band. He became a dealer of musical instruments and after the establishment of the Frederick Piano Co. his name was well known throughout this district. For many years Fred Plock was his sales agent here and later the late Charles Baldwin, local band leader, was agent for the Frederick Piano Company. Frederick was the son of Thomas and Kate Frederick, who operated a grist mill in Listonburg many years ago. He is survived by his wife, Lucy McCulloh Frederick, and two daughters, Mrs. Olive Conway and Mrs. Henrietta Hopwood and one grandson, Frederick Conway, all of Uniontown. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hopwood at Uniontown, Wednesday, Feb. 3. Meyersdale Republican, February 11, 1943
