Fredley died Dec. 31, 1993, in Ligonier at the age of 94 and is survived by his second wife, two sons, a daughter, Jennie Lou Klim of Ligonier, grandchildren including John Harris, Ted Harris and Amy Jevitt. A veteran of World War I, recipient of the Purple Heart, 73-year member of Masonic Lodge in Butler, Pa., he organized the Greene County Chapter of the American Heart Association for which he received the Benjamin Rush Award for outstanding community service. During the early 1950s, he was given credit for helping to save the lives of numerous children born with congenital heart problems by arranging for their pioneer surgery and raising all the monies for their surgery. The T.R. Fredley Memorial Fund has been established to continue the work of helping persons in need. Donations may be sent to Moxham National Bank, Ligonier, PA 15658.
