Fresh, 23, of Waynesboro, formerly of Meyersdale, was killed last Saturday afternoon when a motorcycle he was driving overturned on Route 40, near Hancock, Md. He was enroute to Cumberland, Md., at the time of the accident. His body was found along the highway by a Maryland Highway Patrol officer. He had a skull fracture. A son of Robert and Rose (Kitel) Fresh, he was born in Listonburg on Sept. 21, 1919. The last two years he had been employed in a defense plant in Waynesboro. Surviving are his mother, his grandmother, Mrs. Annie Ackerman, and two sisters, Mrs. James Brown and Miss Bessie Fresh, all of Meyersdale. His body was brought to the James Brown home, 200 Olinger St., Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Lebanon Reformed Church under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home of Berlin. Meyersdale Republican, April 8, 1943
