Friedline, 89, of Willow Street, formerly of Downingtown, died Friday, Oct 15, 1999, in the Lakeside At Willow Valley nursing home, Willow Street. Born in Boswell, he was the son of the late E. H. and Ida Friedline. He had lived in Downingtown since 1965 until moving to the Willow Valley Retirement Community in 1988. Prior to 1965, he was a resident of Somerset County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives Lillian (Shaffer) Friedline and Anna Dougherty (Grube) Friedline. He is survived by two sons: George E. Friedline of New Martinsville, W. Va., and Robert L. Friedline of Warrenton; three daughters: Charlotte A. Templin of Santa Anna, A. Marie Carpenter of Downington and Margaret J. Rambo of Downingtown; two sisters: Margaret Boyer of Baltimore, Md., and Emily Gindlesperger of Somerset County; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Friedline was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Downingtown, where he was a former member and past vice president of the church council. He had worked as a petroleum salesman for U.S. Steel, Farm Bureau and Agway in West Chester, retiring in 1975. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Clarion Lodge #277, F&AM, and the Somerset VFW and was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Harrisburg Consistory. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 46 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment, Lutheran Cemetery, Jennerstown. Friends may call the church from 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday. Contributions in his memory may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 46 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, Pa., 19335.
