Born April 8, 1914 in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, the son of James Jay and Margaret (Younkin) Friedline. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evon Avis (Cook) Friedline, who died May 5, 1963; and brother, Wallace L. Friedline. Survived by wife, the former M. LaVerne (Shaffer) Friedline to whom he was married 33 years; daughter, Mrs. William (Pamela Nan) Heer of Rotonda West, Fla.; stepsons, Dr. Ronald Tranquilla, married to the former Penny Seaton of Latrobe, David L. Tranquilla, married to the former Barbara Cerra of Miami, Fla.; 3 grandchildren, Ryan E. Tranquilla of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Michael (Lisa) Taverrite of Temecula, Calif., Mrs. John (Marcia) Kirby of Fort Mills, S.C.; 2 great-granddaughters, Felicia and Emily Taverrite; and sister-in-law, Jane H. Friedline of Somerset. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A 1933 graduate of Somerset High School. Attended the University of Pittsburgh. World War II veteran with the U.S. Air Force Troop Carrier 50th wing. Member of Lodge 358 F.&A.M., Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine, Odd Fellows Lodge 438, American Legion Post 181, VFW Post 554. Former member of the Somerset Borough Council ad Somerset Police Civil Service Commission. Retired automobile salesman for the former Roy H. Shaulis & Son dealership of Somerset. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
