Born Aug. 10, 1921, in Bakersville, Jefferson Township. Son of the late James Jay Sr. and Margaret (Younkin) Friedline. Also preceded in death by first wife, Lois Virginia Davis, who died Sept. 29, 1961; daughters, Margaret Ann and Ann Ruth Friedline. Survived by second wife, the former Jane Varner Hoffman, to whom he was married for 35 years; son, John W. Friedline, married to the former Lori Ann Salvato, Dayton, N.J. Brother of James J. Friedline Jr., married to the former LaVern Shaffer, Somerset. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Lodge 358, F&AM; Altoona Consistory; Jaffa Shrine. Past board member of Somerset Country Club. Also member of American Legion Post 181, Somerset. 1939 graduate of Somerset High School; attended University of Pittsburgh. Veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. Operated Friedline's Ladies Shoe and Accessories 1948-1969 and was field service representative for Penelec from 1970-1987. No viewing or visitation. Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be sent to Somerset "In Touch" Hospital, 651 S.
