Born Dec. 20, 1887, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, a son of the late Levi and Matilda (Kline) Friedline. Preceded in death by wife, the former Ida Naomi Schmucker; a daughter, Florence; an infant son; a sister, Mrs. Mary Spangler; three brothers, Wilson, G. Edward and Ira. Survived by a son, James E., married to the former Irene Enos, Jennerstown; a brother, John Curtis Friedline of Weldon, N.C.; a grandson, James E. Jr., Jennerstown; and two great-grandchildren. Was a member of Somerset United Church of Christ. Member and one of the founders of Jennerstown Fire Department. Member of Jenner Grange 61 for more than 50 years and Gray Local U.M.W. of A. Was a retired employe [sic] of Consolidated Coal Co. Friends are being received until noon Sunday in the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home (successor to Donald B. Hay), 409 Main St., Boswell. The body will be removed to Jenner Grange Hall, Jennerstown, formerly United Church of Christ, to lie in state from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday, the Rev. Richard H. Shellenberger.
