EFFIE FRIEND

  Mrs. Effie Friend, 71, died at her home in Friendsville, Md., last Saturday 
morning.  Her husband, W. H. Friend, preceded her in death three years ago.  She 
was the daughter of Elijah and Annie E. Friend.
  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Helena Gilleland, Hagerstown; one 
sister, Mrs. Mae Black, Friendsville; two brothers, Bonnel Friend and H. Amster 
Friend, Pittsburgh, and two grandchildren, Thomas Ulrich Gilleland and Virginia 
Lee Gilleland.
  Private funeral services were held Monday, at her home following which last 
rites were held at the Methodist Church with Rev. R. L. Greyolds, pastor of the 
Methodist Church, Ridgeley, W.Va., in charge of the service and Rev. H. R. 
Wriston, assisting.  Interment was in the Friendsville Cemetery.
  Mrs. Friend had been a member of the Friendsville Methodist Church since 1885.
