  KARL W. FRIEND
  
  Karl W. Friend, 65, of Acosta, died March 15, 1979 at the Somerset
  Community Hospital.
  
  He was born Dec. 24, 1913 at Garrett, a son of the late John T. and Cora K.
  (Hanft) Friend.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one
  brother.
  
  He was a brother of Esther of Acosta; Paul of Huntingdon; Mrs. Kenneth
  (Ruby) Pearsall of Nampa, Idaho; and John T. Jr. of Martinsville, Indiana.
  
  He was a veteran of World War II; retired employee of PBS; member of VFW
  and the American Legion; Old Timers Baseball Association; FOE; and the
  Richard Maize Safety Association; and former auditor for Jenner Township.
  
  Friends were received at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where service
  was conducted with the Rev. Donald E. Chamberlain officiating.  Interment,
  Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville, Md.
