  MRS. HUGH FRIEND
  
  Mrs. Nancy L. Friend, 36, of Friendsville, Md., died Aug. 4, 1973, in
  Greater Baltimore Medical Center, following a lingering illness.
  
  Born in Carroll County, Md., she was a daughter of Howard and Emma (Smith)
  Gosnell, of Westminster, Md.
  
  Mrs. Friend had taught school in Springs and in Carroll County, Md.  She
  was a member of Asher Glade Church of the Brethren and Pennsylvania State
  Education Association.
  
  Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband.  Hugh Friend; a son,
  Brian, at home; two brothers, Howard Gosnell Jr., Baltimore; and Donald
  Gosnell, Towson, Md.; a sister, Miss Dorothy Gosnell, and her maternal
  grandmother, Mrs. Addie Smith of Gambrills, Md.
  
  Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon in Asher Glade Church with Rev.
  James Schell officiating.  Interment in the church cemetery.
