  RUTH FRIEND
  
    Mrs. Ruth Adele Friend, 84, of Friendsville RD 2, Md., died December 15,
  1977, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
    Born in Friendsville, Md., she was a daughter of the late Capt. Elijah
  and Emma C. (Schroyer) Friend, and was the widow of Harry Friend.
    Surviving are five sons, Wilbur E. Friend, Philadelphia; Thomas W.
  Friend, Hopwood; Carl J. Friend, Mt. Airy, Md.; and Harry G. Friend and
  Richard E. Friend, both of Meyersdale RD 3; four daughters, Mrs. Laurie
  Friend, Smithfield; Mrs. Helen Nervick, Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. Betty Ream
  and Mrs. Evelyn Fike, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Emma
  Friend, Cresaptown, Md.
    Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at the Newman Funeral Home with the
  Rev. David Fetter officiating.  Interment, Steele Cemetery.
