Henry 02/09/2006 The New Republic October 13, 1922 February 1, 2006 H. Henry (Pap) Fritz, 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, with family at his side. Born on October 13, 1922, in Brothersvalley Township, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Fritz; his mother, Emma E. (Cober) Fritz; his brother, James Clarence Fritz; and his sister-in-law, Jeanette (Blair) Fritz. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Emily (Maust) Fritz; his children: Ellen (Fritz) Hay, married to William Hay Jr., Berlin; David R. Miller, married to Gloria (Kibbey) Miller, LaPlata, Md.; his grandchildren: Jeremy Hay, married to Christina (Mankamyer) Hay; Jennifer (Hay) Gilmore, married to Scott Gilmore; Amy (Miller) Jewell, married to Kevin Jewell; Mark Miller, married to Natasha (Renko) Miller; and Phillip Miller; his great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Rachel and Samuel Jewell; his nephew, Richard B. Fritz, Colorado; and his niece, Margaret (Fritz) Baker, Kansas. Henry was a graduate of the BBHS Class of 1940. He was a lifelong member of the Berlin Brethren Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and financial secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. He was a member of Hillcrest Grange 1674 for 53 years and a 7th degree member of the National Grange. He was also a 50-plus year member of the Berlin IOOF Lodge. He was an agent for Highland Mutual Insurance Co. and drove a school bus for Schrock Inc., for more than 30 years. He was a life-long farmer and loved raising shorthorn cattle. He was especially passionate and proud of his friends and family. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. A viewing was also held at 11 a.m. Saturday followed by a funeral service at noon at the Berlin Brethren Church. Interment was in the Berlin IOOF Cemetery following the service.
