He was admitted to the institution Friday afternoon and his condition became more serious until early Monday evening when he was given but several hours to live. He was a son of Mrs. Alice Fritz, Friedens, R.D. 1. The youth and his two younger brothers, Jay, 15, and Norman, 12, were rushed to the local hospital when they became seriously ill last Friday morning. Their conditions improved somewhat over the weekend and Sunday night the opinion was expressed that all would recover. However, Monday afternoon the condition of Harry Fritz suddenly turned worse. The three boys and three other younger brothers reside with their mother on a farm near Friedens. Their father died several years ago. Their pet dog, which also ate some of the cooked toadstools, died a few hours later. Meyersdale Republican, August 27, 1942
