(Maude) Fritz, widow of the late Homer Y. Fritz, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pritts in Garrett, on Friday morning, Sept. 6th. Her husband preceded her in death by two years. Mrs. Fritz was 61 years of age. She was the daughter of Harvey and Lizzie (Sevits) Schrock. Her mother died nine days after the birth of her infant daughter, and she was brought up in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Sevits of Brothersvalley Twp. She is survived by three daughters, Catherine, wife of Charles Pritts of Garrett, Mary Louise of Rochester, Minn., and Evelyn, wife of Millard Decker, of Garrett; also by two grandchildren, and a brother, Hilton Schrock, of Sipesville, a half-brother, Earl Schrock, and a half-sister, Mrs. Mabel Shultz, and a step-mother, Mrs. Harvey Schrock, all of Somerset. Mrs. Fritz was in ill health for nearly a year and was tenderly cared for by her daughters. She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived for many years. She and her late husband owned and operated the Wm. Fritz farm near Pine Hill. She was a lifelong member of the Berlin Brethren Church and took an active part in Sunday School and Missionary work. Funeral services were held in the Brethren Church, Sunday, Sept. 8, at 2:30, with her pastor, Rev. S. M. Whetstone, officiating, assisted by Rev. F. D. Witmer, pastor of the Garrett charge of the Reformed Church. Interment was in the Fritz Church cemetery under direction of Johnson & Son, Berlin morticians. Meyersdale Republican, September 13, 1946
