Fritz, 88, of Garrett RD 1, died February 2, 1984, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. She was born March 11, 1895, in Stonycreek Township, the daughter of Luther J. and Mary (Glessner) Hillegass. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry M., in 1967. infant twin daughter, Dorothy, who died in 1926; three sisters: Mrs. Nellie Landis, Mrs. Etta Lambert, and Miss Pearle Hillegass; and nine brothers: Robert, Howard, Ross, John, George, Harry, Alvin, Nevin and Lester. Education and farming were their predominant occupations. She attended Berlin Normal School, and taught school in Somerset County for a number of years. She was a member of the Garrett Senior Citizens, and Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale. Always very active in church organizations, especially as a teacher of adult classes at the former St. Paul's (Fritz) Lutheran Church. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by these children: Alfred, Frostburg, Maryland; Eugene, Garrett; Doris, married to Dr. John Dunlap, Harrisburg; and Loretta, married to Harold Saylor, Meyersdale RD 1; also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. Lloyd T. Wilson. Interment, Fritz church cemetery. The Republic, February 9, 1984 [F0983]
