  Melvin J. Fritz, 74, of Somerset RD 5, died April 23, 1983, at Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born July 18, 1908, in Stonycreek Township, a son of
  Jerome and Lizzie (Bennett) Fritz.  Preceded in death by his parents; one
  daughter, Deborah; five half-brothers and two half-sisters.  Survived by
  his wife, the former Mary Sarver; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Shirley) Johnson,
  Jupiter, Fla.; two granddaughters: Mrs. Lynne Swain and Mrs. Greg
  (Jacqueline) Harper, Jupiter, Fla.; a great-grandson, Mark Elliott Swain,
  Jupiter, Fla.; a half-brother, Paul Bennett, Somerset RD 5; and a
  half-sister, Clara Magill, Morrisville, Vt.  Retired employee of Dumbauld's
  Tire Service.  A member of the First Christian Church, Somerset.  Friends
  will be received at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9
  p.m. Monday and Tuesday, where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday
  at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Gene Sellers officiating.  Interment, Pike
  Cemetery, Brotherton.
