 The Somerset herald. (Somerset, Pa.), February 18, 1880
On January 24th, 1880, at the house of his son-in-law, David Lambert, in Shade
township, John Grove, at the advanced age of 80 years, 7 months and 13 days. Father
Grove was the most aged person in the township, and the beloved patriarch of the
Shade Lutheran church… Of seven children, five survive him. His descendants
together, including one great grandchild number sixty. A sister, mother Kellar, of
Stonycreek township, the sole survivor now, of the “old stock," almost eighty two,
walked some five miles of her way to her brothel's funeral.
