Gaither, 78, of Great Cacapon, W. Va., died Feb. 12, 1980 in War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W. Va. He was born June 18, 1901, in Great Cacapon and he was a son of the late Levi Gaither and Mary (Kidwell) Gaither. His wife, Mrs. Agnes S. Gaither, died in 1961. He was a retired trackman and foreman for the B&O Railroad and a trustee and secretary of the Sunday School at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Orleans Crossroads, of which he was a member. He also held memberships in the Junior Order of American Mechanics and the Tonotoway Lodge, Great Cacapon. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Apple, Ridgeley, W. Va.; Mrs. Bernice Sirbaugh, Orleans Crossroads; Mrs. Norma Mencer and Mrs. Janice Stotler, both of Berkeley Springs, W. Va.; three sons, James W. Gaither, Cumberland, Md.; John D. Gaither, Berkeley Springs, W. Va.; Leonard Gaither, Orleans Crossroads; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Fruck, Martinsburg, W. Va.; Pearl Gaither, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Daisy Bohrer, Great Cacapon; one brother, George Gaither, York Springs, Pa.; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Johnson Funeral Home. Services were conducted in Mount Zion United Methodist Church with Mrs. Marcelle Reckley, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. David Kidwell.
