Born Dec. 29, 1935, in Meyersdale. A son of Marian J. (Kidner) Gallagher, Meyersdale, and the late Robert Gallagher. Also survived by his loving wife of 44 years, the former Arlene M. Smith; three children: Pamela, wife of Norman Arnold, Donna, wife of Stephen Seifert, and Donald F. Gallagher, Jr., all of Meyersdale. Four grandsons: Doug, Josh, and Christopher Arnold and Jonathan Seifert. Also a special aunt, Nellie Kidner, Meyersdale and a special friend, Tony Gall, Meyersdale. A brother of: Robert Gallagher, Meyersdale; Marilyn Severson, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Charles Richard Gallagher, Hagerstown, Md. Also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Don was a member of the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, Glencoe, where he served as Sunday School teacher, usher and trustee. Retired from CSX as a telegrapher with 40 years of service. A member of Maple Leaf Rod & Gun Club, Snort Run Hunting Camp of Glencoe, multiple bowling leagues for more than 40 years and had weekly gatherings with his "Thursday Night Gang." His greatest pleasure was sitting on the front porch with his family and friends, and became known as "Pappy Porchtime" by the neighborhood teens. An avid gardener, berry picker, fisherman, hunter and sports enthusiast. Don fought a courageous battle with cancer for 1 ® years during which he made lasting impressions on many doctors and nurses because of his ongoing stamina and attitude to never give up. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Meyersdale, with the Rev. Joseph Onder, and the Rev. Marlin Miller. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Fairhope.
